Thoughts on twins

I am constantly being asked what it's like to have twins. Let me start by saying, when I was pregnant with Chase and Faith, I didn't necessarily care if I was having a boy or girl, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't having twins. Being a twin myself and my twin sis. having twins, I was worried abt. my chances of having them. My perspective changed a bit after having a difficult time getting another baby here after Faith. There wasn't anything I wanted more than to have another baby. Prior to getting pregnant with Ty and Crew, Chase said he thought we'd have twins. I have to admit, I had felt that way too. In fact, I told my mom I felt like there were two babies waiting to come into our family.
So, having said all this, my perspective on having twins has changed. I have loved it...all of it. Even when they were first born and in the NICU. Each day I would visit them and marvel at how perfect they were. No matter what, they would be mine forever. I admit, there are times I wonder why I have been blessed to care for these special babies...I don't know, but I am very grateful. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't appreciate them. They are a gift.
Ty is a patient little guy. He's content to sit for now and loves to look at his brother and giggle. You know when Ty's happy when he makes his duck noises. We think he's going to have a sense of humor like his dad...and as Kirk would say, his dad's good looks too. I agree.

Crew is a mover and a shaker. A few weeks after he learned how to sit he decided to crawl. You know when he's happy when his mouth is open. He loves to be tossed up in the air and bounced up and down. I look forward to watching these two grow up together but am a bit sad time has already flown by so quickly. I guess the key is to cherish each day. Thanks again Laura for the BEAUTIFUL pictures...to see more, check out her website at laurafarrisphotograpy.blogspot.com

Utah trip, etc.

We were able to go to Utah this past week for one of our friend's weddings. We had a great time seeing good friends and spending some time with family. As I've said to Kirk, he has an awesome family. I joke that when we were dating I wasn't so sure about him, but I knew I loved his family. They really are solid, geniune, selfless people...salt of the earth if you will. I am blessed to be a part of it. Here we are with Kirk's mom, dad and grandparents...4 generations!
I threw this picture in b/c I thought it was cute of Faith, Crew and their cousin Bo. Faith made microphones out of paper...and sang to Crew in his crib. Back to the Utah trip...

Here are Crew and Ty ready for the trip.

Father's Day...

Here are a few candid pictures my sis. took yesterday. You can see Ty really likes Kirk. One of the things Kirk likes to do is shake his head back and forth and say Ty's name over and over. When he does this, Ty gets a big grin on his face and starts to shake his head. I LOVE this age...wish I could freeze time for a bit.

Faith's graduation and more...

Baby food...one of the conveniences of living in 2008, right? So I went to the store today and decided I'd stock up on baby food. I bought 100 jars. When I was putting the jars on the checkout belt, I saw the checkers eyes glance over at my pile. At that moment I realized she probably wasn't too excited to scan 100 jars of baby food so I explained I had twins and I wanted to stock up. I wasn't expecting her follow up comment to mine. She said, "Isn't it a lot cheaper to make your own baby food?". In my mind I was screaming, "Are you crazy lady...as if I don't have enough things to do"...but I didn't. I simply said, "Yea, I guess it would be". It was her next comment that took the cake...she said, "Wow, you spent over $50.00 on baby food". Some nerve!
My sis. Laura took this picture of Ty...

and this picture of Crew.

Chase and Faith celebrated the last day of school by staying up and playing the Wii.

Faith and her teacher Mrs. Hartzmann. She is such a great teacher. Faith had a great year.

Kirk and I told the kids they could have a lemonade and cookie stand last Saturday. A few days before, Faith decided she'd prepare by doing a mock lemonade stand in our house. She got the table, lemonade, cups, and ice. When Saturday came, she pulled the stuff out again...except on the corner outside. She and the kids made $12.00. They couldn't have been more excited.

Faith and her friend...thanks for the picture Laura.
